Mary E. O'Grady

Mary E. O’Grady, 97, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Christiana Hospital in Newark with her loving family by her side.

Born on February 8, 1915 in Chestertown, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Louis and Emma Ford. As one of eight, Mary was their last surviving child.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Middletown, a charter member of the Odessa Ladies Auxiliary with more than 50 years of service, and a board member for the Jean Birch MOT Senior Center for 15 years.

Mary was a 1933 graduate of Galena High School. In later years, she supported her loving husband, John, in the family owned bait and tackle shop in Odessa. She and her “girlfriends” enjoyed many adventures from traveling together to local lunches.

In addition to her parents and seven siblings, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John; daughter, Mary Jo “Bea” Frohmander; son, Thomas E. O’Grady and a granddaughter, Delia Imboden.

She is survived by her two devoted sons, John F. “Jack” O’Grady and his wife, Marnie and Patrick K. “Pat” O’Grady and his wife, Ruth Ann; a daughter-in-law, Betty O’Grady, all of Middletown; son-in-law, John Frohmander of Punta Gorda, FL; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 am on Wednesday, March 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 371 E. Main Street in Middletown. Friends may visit with Mrs. O’Grady’s family on Tuesday evening, March 20 from 7-9 pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown and on Wednesday morning from 10-11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier (Old Bohemia) Cemetery in Warwick, MD.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Odessa Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, P. O. Box 81, Odessa, DE 19730-0081 or to the Jean Birch MOT Senior Center, 300 S. Scott Street, Middletown, DE 19709.
