Leona S. Daubert

Leona S. Daubert, 75, daughter of the late Lee and Elsie Sweetman, departed this life on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

She graduated with the Class of 1955 from Galena High School in Galena, MD.

Leona held several jobs in her lifetime. She recently retired from Boscov’s Department Store after 30 years of dedicated service. She began her career with Boscov’s in Dover and later transferred to Christiana.

Leona was a charter and life member of the Middletown Volunteer Hose Company Auxiliary, as well as a life member of VFW Post 3792 Auxiliary. She was also an active member of Townsend Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Leona was a fan of country music and Elvis Presley. Earlier in her life, she regularly attended country music shows and dances. She was a collector of ducks and participated in Ducks Unlimited events and was a collector of Ducks Unlimited memorabilia. She was a giving and thoughtful person and always celebrated holidays and special events with others.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Daubert, Sr., a brother, Lee Sweetman, and a beloved grandson, Curtis Daubert.

She is survived by her two loving children, Wesley Daubert, Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Middletown and Cindy Matthews and her husband, Drew, of Wilmington; granddaughter, Tera Daubert; grandson, Dexter Matthews and a great-granddaughter Aniyah Daubert. She is also survived by six sisters; Shirley Doll, Madeline Joines, Betty Clough, Dorothy Pitcher, Kathy Sweetman and Debbie Lewis; four brothers; William, Gene, Tommy and Doug, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 am on Saturday, April 21 at Middletown Baptist Church, 419 Armstrong Corner Road in Middletown, where her family will receive guests from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery, Townsend, DE.
