Daniel E Lee I, “Suit Case”, 67, of Middletown passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his home.

Born on December 7, 1944 in Dover DE, he was the son of the late Elmer and Saloma (Wengerd) Lee.

Daniel enjoyed fishing, bowling, and yard sale “hopping”, but his greatest joy was playing Santa Claus until he became disabled. At the young age of 17, he joined the National Guard where he loved traveling all over the country.

Daniel worked at many jobs, most recently for the Town of Middletown and was retired from the City of Newark where he was referred to as “Suit Case.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Noah, David, Joseph, and Norman, three sisters, Rachael Linda, Matilda, and Mary and his son, Little Danny.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Baker-Lee; two sons, Benjamin and Aaron Jesse of Middletown, DE; a daughter, Nancie Katherine Joseph and her husband, Michael; his grandson, Danny Greene, all of Camden DE; daughter-in-law, Misty Lee and her children, Jesse, Charles and Rhonda; 7 great-grandchildren of Evansville, IN; six siblings, Lydia Wakeland and husband, Donald of Fort Wayne, IN, Ernest E. Lee and wife, Sovilla of Aroda, VA, Ivy Beachy and husband, Albert of Arcola, IL, Olive Miller of Wyoming, DE, Fannie Mae Morris and husband, Leonard of Dover, DE and Barbara Ann Lewis of Cumberland, MD.

Memorial services will be held 3 pm on Friday, June 1 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with Daniel’s family from 2:00-3:00 pm. At Daniel’s request, he will be scattered over his favorite fishing spot.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
